Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has decided to lease its open spaces, footpaths, and areas under bridges for paid parking on a one-year license basis through public auction. Applications from interested parties have already been invited for 13 such locations.

The city has been grappling with severe traffic congestion due to encroachment on roads and indiscriminate parking. Despite having designated parking spaces, the corporation has not been able to generate the expected revenue from paid parking. Open areas, footpaths, and spaces under bridges continue to be crowded, and some hospitals and commercial buildings do not have enough parking areas, forcing vehicles to park under bridges or on corporation land.

To increase revenue and improve parking management, the corporation has identified 13 locations for paid parking arrangements:

• Sama – Savli Road

• Natubhai Circle

• Near Tarsali Gurudwara

• Near Vadiwadi Water Tank

• Under Chhani Overbridge

• Near Mujammil, Tandlaja

• New Laheripura Road

• Near Sama Talav

• Near Golden Chowkdi

• Near Sama Sports Complex

• Dumad Chowkdi

• Near Harni Lake Zone (footpath area)

• Fatehganj Bridge

With this initiative, the VMC aims to manage traffic congestion more effectively while generating additional revenue through organized paid parking. DeshGujarat
