Gujarat govt approves additional power supply for 6 districts for Rabi crop season
November 19, 2025
Gandhinagar: In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the State Council of Ministers approved additional power supply in some districts to boost irrigation support during the Rabi season.
Deputy Chief Minister and State Spokesperson Harsh Sanghvi said the decision aims to benefit cumin farmers across the state. “Cumin, extensively cultivated during the Rabi season, will now receive increased electricity for irrigation. Agricultural feeders in cumin-growing areas will provide 10 hours of electricity daily instead of the previous 8 hours, starting from 20 November 2025,” he said.
The decision comes in response to representations made by public representatives and farmers requesting enhanced power supply for irrigation. Over 49,000 agricultural consumers across approximately 1,090 villages are expected to benefit from this initiative.
Sanghvi further elaborated that talukas with significant cumin cultivation—including Viramgam and Mandal in Ahmedabad; Bechraji in Mehsana; Sami, Harij, Shankheshwar, Radhanpur, and Santalpur in Patan; Lakhtar and Dasada in Surendranagar; Suigam and Vav in Vav-Tharad; and Halvad in Morbi—will see increased electricity supply.
In addition, Dahod and Garbada talukas in Dahod district will receive 12 hours of electricity daily instead of 8 hours for the Rabi season. Around 9,758 farmers across 191 villages in these talukas will benefit from the enhanced power supply. DeshGujarat
