One held for pelting stones at Rajdhani Express, Holiday Special train in Surat

Surat: The Udhna Railway Protection Force (RPF) has arrested one Itwari, Jagdish Rajput, for allegedly pelting stones at the Rajdhani and Holiday Special trains between Surat and Udhna, damaging multiple train windows.

The incidents occurred on Tuesday morning. While the 12954 August Kranti Tejas Rajdhani Express was passing between Surat and Udhna at around 9:25 am, the windows of coaches B-8, V-3, and A-1 were shattered due to stone-pelting. Similarly, the window of coach B-8 of the 09004 Shakurbasti–Mumbai Central Holiday Special train was also broken. Fortunately, no passengers were injured in either incident.

Upon receiving information about the incident, RPF personnel immediately reached the tracks and apprehended Jagdish Rajput, a resident of Khukri village in Badaun district, Uttar Pradesh. During questioning, he reportedly confessed to throwing stones at the trains. The accused was presented in court, which granted remand until November 25.

Following repeated incidents of stone-pelting near Udhna station, the RPF had intensified track patrolling. The motive behind Rajput’s actions is still under investigation, though similar acts in the past have often been linked to the smuggling of narcotics or alcohol. The RPF has registered a case against the accused and is continuing its investigation into the incident. DeshGujarat
