Sanghavi embarks on Scotland visit for Ahmedabad’s 2030 Commonwealth Games bid
November 24, 2025
Ahmedabad: Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi has embarked on a two-day official visit to Scotland. The key objective of the trip is to secure the hosting rights for the 2030 Commonwealth Games for India, with Ahmedabad set to be the host city.
The DyCM’s itinerary has him in Scotland on November 24 and 25. He is scheduled to participate in the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow. This assembly is critical, as it is where Ahmedabad is expected to be formally announced as the host for the 2030 Centenary Games. DyCM Sanghavi is specifically slated to take part in the General Assembly on November 25 in Glasgow.
Earlier, a delegation including officials from both the central and state governments, along with the Municipal Commissioner of Ahmedabad, had left for Glasgow. During the meeting, officials will present Ahmedabad’s preparedness to host this major sporting event.
It is noteworthy that the Executive Board of Commonwealth Sport, in October, confirmed that it will recommend Ahmedabad, India, as the proposed host city for the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games. The final decision will be announced at the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow on November 26, 2025.
According to the Executive Board of Commonwealth Sport, “The recommendation of Ahmedabad follows a detailed process overseen by the Commonwealth Sport Evaluation Committee, which assessed candidate cities against a wide range of criteria including technical delivery, athlete experience, infrastructure, governance, and alignment with Commonwealth Sport values.”
