Stray Dog Menace: Another Child Mauled by Pack in Surat City
November 24, 2025
Surat: The terror of stray dogs continued for the second consecutive day in Surat city, spreading fear among residents, especially parents of young children. The latest incident was reported from Bhatar, where an eight-year-old boy was mauled by stray dogs while playing outside his house. This comes just a day after a similar incident involving a four-year-old boy in the Sachin area.
According to eyewitnesses, the child was playing near his residence while his mother was busy cooking when a pack of stray dogs suddenly pounced on him. The boy sustained serious injuries, including a head wound, and was rushed to Surat Civil Hospital for immediate treatment.
As per Civil Hospital records, more than 100 dog-bite cases have been reported in recent days, reflecting the seriousness of the situation.
Residents have expressed strong resentment, alleging that despite repeated incidents, the civic authorities are not able to control the stray dog population. Owing to the increasing attacks, parents are now scared to allow their children to play outside, and citizens are demanding urgent and concrete measures to tackle the stray dog menace in the city.
