Uproar at Vanita Vishram Mela in Surat

Surat: The Vibrant Surat Fair organized at Vanita Vishram Ground near Athwa Gate has sparked controversy after allegations of false advertising by the organizers triggered public outrage and chaotic scenes at the venue.

According to reports, the organizers had widely publicized that entry to the fair would be free on November 25, 26 and 27. The announcement went viral on social media, drawing a large crowd on November 25.

However, on the very next day, November 26, visitors were asked to purchase entry tickets. The abrupt reversal angered the public, who accused the organizers of misleading them with false advertisements to attract larger footfall.

The situation escalated when several women objected to the unexpected ticket collection. Instead of handling the matter peacefully, women bouncers deployed at the fair allegedly attempted to intimidate visitors, wielding sticks and trying to drive people away.

Videos of the commotion and the alleged aggressive behaviour by the bouncers have gone viral on social media, further fueling criticism of the organizers. Many visitors have accused the fair management of negligence, mismanagement, and intentionally deceiving the public.

Meanwhile, the organizers stated that they had publicized the message that free entry would be available from 4:00 to 6:30 pm, and after that, two people would be able to enter the fair on a single ticket. However, unofficial messages went viral indicating free entry from November 25 to 27, while the system was only in place for the 26th and 27th. Now, the organizers have decided to allow full free entry on November 27 and 28 to compensate the public for the inconvenience. DeshGujarat
