Gujarat Raj Bhavan Renamed as ‘Lok Bhavan’
December 01, 2025
Gandhinagar: In a move aimed at promoting people-centric governance, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat has announced that the state’s Raj Bhavan will henceforth be officially known as ‘Lok Bhavan’, an official statement said.
As per the press release, the newly designated Lok Bhavan will no longer function solely as the Governor’s residence or office. It is envisioned as a center for dialogue and collaboration with the state’s citizens, including students, researchers, farmers, civil society organizations, and various social groups.
Governor Acharya Devvrat emphasized, “The core principle of Lok Bhavan is that the people come first. This institution should serve as a bridge of service and cooperation between the government and the citizens. Raj Bhavan should not remain confined to its constitutional responsibilities alone; true ‘Lok Bhavan’ is one that remains actively connected to society’s welfare, aspirations, and concerns.”
Over the past several years, Gujarat Raj Bhavan has undertaken numerous initiatives aimed at public welfare, including nationwide campaigns for natural farming, strengthening ethical education in universities, dialogues with youth and researchers, environmental conservation efforts, women’s empowerment, and programs supporting tribal development. The renaming to Lok Bhavan reinforces Raj Bhavan’s commitment to citizen-focused governance, the statement added. DeshGujarat
