ACB Gujarat nabs DGVCL clerk, aide in bribery case

Surat: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed two individuals in a Rs. 70,000 bribery case. The accused are Santoshbhai Bhagwanbhai Sonwane, 48, Senior Clerk (Class-3) at DGVCL Kathor Subdivision, Surat, and Bharatbhai Ramnikbhai Savaliya, a labor contractor.
According to the ACB, the complainant had applied to the DGVCL office with the necessary documents to obtain a commercial electricity connection for his land. In exchange for taking action to install the electricity meter, Santoshbhai Sonwane demanded Rs. 70,000 from the complainant. The complainant refused to pay and approached the ACB to file a complaint.
During the planned bribery trap, Santoshbhai Sonwane sent Bharatbhai Savaliya to collect the bribe. Both accused were caught accepting the bribe, and the entire amount of Rs. 70,000 was recovered. DeshGujarat
