International passenger caught with 8.9 kg hydroponic weed at Surat airport

Surat: An international passenger was caught carrying a large stash of hydroponic weed in a joint operation by the CISF (Central Industrial Security Force), Surat City Detection of Crime Branch (DCB), and Customs officials at Surat Airport, and was subsequently arrested.
According to the CISF, the passenger was intercepted during security checks after raising suspicion. During baggage screening, officials recovered 8 packets of hydroponic weed (hybrid ganja) weighing 4.055 kg, valued at ₹1.41 crore. Further inspection led to the discovery of an additional 4.852 kg of the same contraband concealed in a secret inbuilt compartment of the luggage, worth ₹1.69 crore.
In total, 8.907 kg of narcotics valued at approximately ₹3.10 crore was seized. The accused passenger, along with the narcotics, has been handed over to the Crime Branch for further investigation.
