AUDA plans 6 km, 8-lane corridor from Manipur-Godhavi to Sanand; invites tender for DPR

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has initiated planning for a major 8-lane road corridor aimed at improving connectivity between the Manipur–Godhavi area and Sanand.

The civic authority has already invited proposals seeking consultancy services for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the development of a new 8-lane road corridor, spanning approximately 6 kilometers near the Godhavi–Manipur area within the AUDA jurisdiction. As per reports, the new stretch will run from Sanskardham to Sanand town. The study must be completed within 75 days, after which AUDA will finalize the design and project execution plan.

The proposed corridor is expected to ease traffic, streamline regional mobility, and support future urban expansion. The area currently houses the revamped six-lane VVIP road from SP Ring Road to Sanskardham, which is expected to be widened and extended into a full eight-lane high-capacity link. This upgrade has been prompted by two major developments: the 86-hectare semiconductor hub planned around Sanand GIDC and the proposed South West Ahmedabad Sports Arena (SWASA) near the Godhavi–Manipur belt.

There have been several media reports earlier that the region is set to host world-class facilities, with Ahmedabad preparing for the 2030 Commonwealth Games and aspiring to host the 2036 Olympics. The new corridor will serve as a key approach route to the international-standard sports arena, ensuring smooth movement of athletes, spectators, and event traffic.

As part of the DPR, the consultant will design road structures such as flyovers, bridges, and underpasses, along with safety audits, traffic planning, and urban design elements. AUDA also aims to integrate a green-blue corridor to enhance environmental sustainability and improve the visual landscape.

The project is expected to significantly benefit the public by reducing congestion, improving travel times between Ahmedabad and Sanand, supporting industrial expansion, and opening up new urban growth zones. DeshGujarat
