Kamrej: Two illegal Bangladeshi immigrant women have escaped from police custody after fleeing from the women’s protection home in Amboli. The women, identified as Shivli alias Sania Mohammad Ovi Jummadar (33) and Rekha alias Rekta Pyarali Sultana, were nabbed by Mahidharpura police for illegally residing in Surat and had been brought to the Amboli women’s protection home.
Both women were kept in police custody and were under the supervision of Ankitaben, a female constable from Mahidharpura police station. They were housed in a hall on the second floor of the shelter home. Late at night, the night-duty policeman reportedly fell asleep, giving the women an opportunity to escape.
When the CCTV footage was checked, it showed that around 12:40 am the women climbed out through a space below the toilet area and jumped over the boundary wall of the building.
Kamrej police have registered a missing person report and initiated further investigation. Earlier as well, another Bangladeshi woman had escaped from police custody, raising concerns over security arrangements at such facilities. DeshGujarat
