AMC to Build ₹7.31 Crore Sports Complex in Shahpur
March 02, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Municipal Corporation has approved the closure of the Bhawanisinh Chauhan Party Plot in Shahpur and sanctioned the construction of a modern sports complex at the site at an estimated cost of ₹7.31 crore.
The decision was taken after a proposal to renovate the dilapidated party plot was reviewed. Considering persistent parking constraints and structural concerns, authorities opted to develop a new three-storey sports complex instead. The plot, spread over 2,593 square metres and located next to Lala Kaka Hall in Shahpur, will be redeveloped following the completion of the tender process and preparation of detailed designs.
According to Road and Building Committee Chairman Jayesh Patel, the upcoming facility will include a gymnasium, yoga hall, administrative room, and separate changing rooms and washrooms for men and women on the ground floor (669 sq m). The first floor (669 sq m) will house table tennis, karate, judo and other indoor sports facilities. The second floor (669 sq m) will feature a double-height badminton court and additional indoor games area, while the third floor will provide further sports-related amenities with washroom facilities.
The project also includes 857 square metres earmarked for two-wheeler and four-wheeler parking, along with a designated green space. The civic body expects the sports complex to be completed within two years, benefiting over one lakh youths from Shahpur, Dariyapur and surrounding areas.
