May 02, 2026
Ahmedabad: Several parts of Gujarat continued to reel under intense heat, with maximum temperatures touching 43°C in multiple cities on Friday, according to the latest meteorological observations recorded at 8:30 am on May 2.
The highest maximum temperature of 43°C was recorded in key locations including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Surendranagar and Bhavnagar, indicating persistent heatwave-like conditions across large parts of the state. Amreli also recorded a high of 42°C, while Deesa and Vallabh Vidyanagar registered 41°C.
In the Kutch region, Bhuj and Kandla Airport recorded 40°C, while Naliya remained relatively lower at 36°C. Coastal areas continued to experience comparatively milder conditions, with Porbandar at 35°C, Veraval at 33°C and Dwarka at 32°C.
In South Gujarat, temperatures were relatively subdued, with Surat recording 33°C and Vadodara 40°C. Humidity levels remained high in coastal belts, contributing to discomfort despite slightly lower temperatures.
Weather officials indicated that temperatures in several regions remained above normal by 1°C to 3°C, particularly in Saurashtra and North Gujarat.
The prevailing conditions suggest continued heat stress across inland regions, while coastal areas may see marginal relief due to sea breeze influence. Residents have been advised to take precautions against heat exposure, especially during peak afternoon hours. DeshGujarat
