Light Rains in Parts of Gujarat Bring Relief, but Temperatures Stay Above Normal

Ahmedabad: After days of dry weather, Ahmedabad finally witnessed light rainfall on Thursday, with the city recording an average of 2mm of rain. Although the showers brought temporary relief from the muggy conditions, temperatures remained above normal.
Despite the brief spell of rain, the city continued to experience warm and humid weather. The maximum temperature reached 37°C, which was 3.3°C above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 27.5°C, 1.3°C above the seasonal average. Humidity levels stayed high, with relative humidity recorded at 71% in the morning and 69% in the evening under partly cloudy skies.
Across Gujarat, Bhuj recorded the second-highest maximum temperature at 36.6°C, followed by Deesa at 36.3°C. Rajkot and Kandla registered 35°C each, while Gandhinagar recorded 34.8°C. Bhavnagar, Okha, Porbandar, and Surendranagar recorded 33.7°C each, with Amreli at 33.5°C and Vadodara at 33.4°C. Surat remained relatively cooler at 32.8°C, followed by Dwarka and Junagadh at 32.6°C each, while Veraval recorded the state’s lowest maximum temperature among the major stations at 31.6°C.
The rainfall in Ahmedabad was part of scattered showers reported across Gujarat, where at least 92 talukas received 1mm or more rain during the day. Kamrej in Surat district recorded the highest rainfall at 46mm, followed by Rapar in Kutch with 43mm. Mangrol and Bardoli, both in Surat district, received 38mm each, while several other parts of the state witnessed light to moderate rainfall.
According to the IMD, light to moderate rain is likely to continue over isolated parts of Gujarat during the next 24 hours. However, the weather department said many areas could still experience above-normal daytime temperatures despite intermittent showers.
