Gajanan Dhumal is Vadodara based mechanic who drives his Maruti 800 car in reverse. He has obtained a permission from Gujarat’s police chief office to do so for a purpose to break Guiness book record.

Gajanan(42) started driving car in reverse for a long distance way back before seven years. “Once I had a call from Jambusar which is 40 km away from Vadodara. One car’s gear system had chalked up in reverse gear position. I brought that car in reverse to Vadodara in 4 hours. There my fascination with reverse gear driving started. I tried reverse gear driving for couple of more times and then Vadodara based IAF officer Mr. Karnik encouraged me to modify a car for better performance,” He says.

Gajanan with the help of his mechanic friend modified Maruti 800 to ensure car’s good millage, engine temperature control and maximum speed in reverse gear also.

Gajanan wants to break Guinness book world record of reverse driving. He wants to drive 18000 kms across India in reverse position. In a practice session when he was in Ahmedabad via Junagadh and Rajkot, DeshGujarat.Com made the video above.
