Junagadh’s Sakkarbag zoo has become India’s only zoo that now possesses Cheetahs. Two pair of cheetahs arrived at Sakkarbag zoo from Singapore via Ahmedabad through a flight.
Cheetahs are kept in a separate compartment in Sakkarbag zoo for next 15 days under supervision of close circuit cameras. R.O. plant water is being served to them. Veterinary doctors visit to examine them on regular intervals.
Cheetahs were last seen in India in 1946. After then, around 30 cheetahs were brought to India for breeding purpose but they all couldn’t survive long here.
Junagadh’s Sakkarbag zoo has got two pairs of cheetahs in exchange to three Asiatic lions that were earlier sent to Singapore zoo. A doctor from Singapore accompanied cheetahs’ journey to India in a flight.
