A picture of new international terminal that has started functioning from middle of this month

Gone are the days when you were prevented to enter the departure building of Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel international airport while dropping off your relative or friend for international flight.

Gone are the days when you were trying to have a glimpse of your relative or friend who were inside the departure terminal’s check in area, through a half transparent glass panel, standing outside in crowd. In Ahmedabad airport’s old international terminal, the relatives or friends of passengers were not permitted to enter inside the departure building, which used to create crowd just outside the glass panel of the building.

However in new international terminal of Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel airport permits visitors to enter inside the departure terminal.

For every passenger(or group of passengers), two persons are now permitted to enter the international departure building. Each person needs to buy an entry ticket worth Rs. 60 to enter inside the departure building. However none of the visitors would be allowed to step into secured area inside the departure building.

While airport authority will generate income from this system, the passengers and their relatives will feel more comfortable.

However, contrary to the old terminal, there is no facility to watch the incoming relative or friend from inside the building. In old international terminal of Ahmedabad airport, there used to be a gallery packed with transparent glass, from where a visitor could see the custom clearance process of his guest, after paying a ticket.

In new international airport’s arrival area, there’s no such facility.
