Election Commissioners of three states in Gujarat to study e-voting

Election Commissioners of three states Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are in Gujarat on three-day visit to study E-voting system here.
Gujarat Election Commission had first launched e-voting in civic elections last year in the state. This novel state-of-the-art system of voting has been put again in practice in Gandhiangar Municipal Corporation election. As many as 670 voters have registered their name for e-voting in Gandhinagar.
To study this e-voting system, state election commissioners of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh are in Gandhinagar today. They today visited the central server room of state election commission. They also attended a presentation on e-voting. They visited e-polling booths, and studied technological and procedural details of e-voting with great interest. They will stay in Gandhinagar for two more days and will also witness and study counting process of electronic votes.
“We will conduct major Municipal Corporation elections next year in Maharashtra. We are here to learn the things, witness them and to understand the process that how we can implemented e-voting in our state,” said Nila Stayanarayan, Mahrashtra state Election Commission Chief.
