SEC KC Kapoor to retire, PS Shah to take over as in-charge

The term of state election commissioner (SEC) KC Kapoor ends today.
Shri Kapoor joined Gujarat state election commission five years ago after he retired from the IAS as additional chief secretary (ACS),home.
State election commission is responsible to hold local body polls.
Shri Kapoor was instrumental,during his tenure,several important suggestions including the first online voting introduced in Indian poll arena.
SEC Secretary PS Shah has taken over as in-charge SEC.
Shah’s first major task will be the gram panchayat elections that are to be held on 29 December. Gram Panchayat polls cover more than 1.5 crore voters and over 10,000 villages.
