Bohras gathered at Roza in Saraspur
Ahmedabad, 16 January 2012
-A complaint has been registered about Rs 24 lakh burglary in Ahmedabad based lady share broker Hemadriben Doshi’s flat of Satellite area. Hemadriben had gone to friend’s house with her son to celebrate Vaasi Uttarayan when this incident happened.
-Ahmedabad police zone-1 striking force captures 2400 kg cow beef from mutton market and a Tata Sumo car in Mirzapur area.
-12 bullocks on way to slaughter house rescued near Borsad by Jivdaya raksha samiti. Bullocks were tied tightly in a truck and they were under influence of injection. They were covered with fodder.
-A global bird watchers conference will be held between 19-22 January in Gujarat. The event has been organized by Gujarat Tourism and FICCI jointly. This is second such conference after 2012 Khijadia conference. About 500 bird watchers are expected to arrive to participate in this event. The bird watchers will be taken to Nalsarovar, little rann of Kutch, Thol, Bhavnagar coast westland, Velavdar, Tarapur wetland, Khambhat among other places in two-day field trips. On first day an inauguration ceremony will be held in Gandhinagar.
-Bohra community’s chief priest Syedna Saheb’s son(65) passed away today morning due to heart attack in Ahmedabad’s Saraspur based roza. Due to extra rush of Bohra community members in the evening, a roof at the height of 30 ft collapsed. At least 22 community members were injured and were taken to Shardaben hospital where they were treated for free. In the afternoon Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to late Shehzada of Bohra community through Twitter as Modi was busy in Sadbhavna fast in Surendranagar.
-Toll tax will now be paid by the passengers in state transport buses in Gujarat. This new decision will be effective from Tuesday.
-India’s first woman photographer lat Homai Vyarawalla was cremated today as per Hindu custom in Vadodara. Vyarawalla was Parsi, but she had wished for her last rites as per the Hindu tradition.
