‘Der aaye durast aaye’ says Gujarat BJP on Congress ad praising Modi

Gandhinagar, 28 January, 2012

‘Der aaye durast aaye’ was Gujarat BJP’s reaction over Gujarat Congress’s advertisement praising Shri Narendra Modi as Chief Minister.

In a statement released by the party, Gujarat BJP spokesperson Shri IK Jadeja today said that be it the United Nations, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, central government departments or other institutions, they have time and again praised various works carried out by the Gujarat government.

Jadeja said, the Congress leaders tried their best to deny Gujarat’s development which largely affected their credibility. People never could digest the lies spread by Congress. In last decade the voters of Gujarat have always shown door to Congress party and Congress has lost all elections in this period. Moreover each so called leader of the party has to step down from his post after defeat in poll.

Gujarat BJP further said in its statement that in past elections Congress used Narendra Modi’s face and tried to win sentiments of the people but couldn’t impress the voters. Congress party’s admiration for Modi makes an impression that by praising Narendra Modi they are trying to rescue themselves from an anger of the people of Gujarat. But such effort would fail.

The statement further said, “what BJP feels is that the advertisement released by Congress party could be an act of repent, and it is like ‘der aaye, durast aaye.”

Meanwhile, defending its advertisement which praised Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his contribution in developing the state, the Congress on Saturday said that it was meant to be sarcastic.

Congress leader Rajiv Shukla said that Modi had been ridiculed in the advertisement.

“It’s a sarcastic comment on Narendra Modi. He has been ridiculed in the advertisement. His predecessors did a better job,” Shukla said.

The Gujarat Congress had issued an advertisement in local newspapers on Republic Day praising Modi.

The pull-out by Congress, distributed with newspapers on the Republic Day in some parts of the state, featured Modi’s photograph, and described him as “a master organizer and astute election strategist”.

The two-page advertisement claimed that Gujarat had been a progressive state from the very beginning, and sought to highlight contribution of all the chief ministers of the state, including Modi.

The advertisement informed the readers that “a master organizer, his party’s topmost functionary and astute election strategist Shri Narendrabhai Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001”.

It then listed major achievements under Modi.

“He has been trying very hard to convert Gujarat into a vibrant state, he has established separate department for biotechnology, and he has also been able to raise the height of Narmada dam from 110.64 mts to 121.92 mts,” said the advertisement.

In another development Gujarat Congress leaders Shaktisinh Gohil, Arjun Modhwadia and Shankersinh Vaghela are reportedly asked for clarification on this issue by party high command in Delhi.
