Kandla Port Trust awards Tuna bulk terminal port project to Adani

Kandla Port Trust(KPT) has handed over Rs 1190 crore Tuna dry bulk terminal port project to Adani group. This decision was taken in a special board meeting of KPT on Tuesday.
According to sources Mundra Port and SEZ(MPSEZ) team led by Karan Gautam Adani and Rajiv Sinha gave a presentation on company’s plan to develop Tuna port , promising that the completion of the project in prescribed time period. All Trustees of KPT showed agreement to award the Tuna project to Adani Group on public private partnership mode for next 30 years.
Sources told DeshGujarat that, as per the details of tender, Adani group will build four ‘T’ shape jetty along with the other infrastructure facilities, and will bear all responsibility of dredging and maintenance. Adani will use the infrastructure giving 25.9% share to KPT. Adani told the board members that wining this tender was important for the company as distance between hinterland and port will be reduced by 60 km. New infrastructure will scale up the cargo handling capacity of KPT by 14 million metric tone.
Various other works worth Rs 50 crore were also approved in this board meeting.
