Congress seeks his disqualification

Gujarat Minister Babubhai Bokhiria today received regular bail from Porbandar Sessions Court in Rs 54 crore illegal mining case. Shri Bokhiria was last week given seven days bail by lower court. He applied for regular bail in Sessions court.
Bokhiria has been given three years jail term by lower court. The sessions court today refused to stay or quash the lower court order. further hearing will take place on 6 July.
Meanwhile senior leaders of Gujarat Congress today visited Gujarat Assembly Speaker’s office demanding disqualification of Bokhiria. In their memorandum they asked Speaker that as per the Representation of People’s Act, 1951, elected member if sentenced for more than two years jail term has to be disqualified.
