Ahmedabad, 24 November, 2011
To kick off the Gunotsav programme of 2011 Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi selected remote Jashwantgadh village of Danta taluka in Banaskantha district. Jashwantgadh is located 30 kms away from Ambaji. The village has majority Moman Muslim population.
The Chief Minister suddenly reached Jashwantgadh and straight away visited the school.
The most interesting part of his visit was a small chit in which two Muman Muslim girls of standard 8th told him that they wanted to study further, but their parents were refusing.
The Chief Minister later in his interaction with villagers told that preventing children to study further was unforgivable act. The government has made provision that either boy or girl, all would be able to get education without spending a single Rupee.
Chief Minister asked the villagers why during 50 years of local school here, no one could become doctor, engineer or lawyer!
The Chief Minister said local teachers, villagers and parents were responsible for this unfortunate fact.
