Unmanned boat puts marine police in tizzy, turns out harmless affair

Veraval

The Marine police and other security personnel in Gir-Somnath district were in a tizzy today with the recovery of an unmanned small boat from the Arabian sea off the Madhvad coast which later turned out to be a harmless affair.

The marine police become extra cautious on noticing the boat in the wake of the recent IB input regarding suspected entry of terrorists from Pakistan in Gujarat and recovery of several abandoned boats in Kutch district.

Police said that the small unmanned boat with no suspected item in it was later brought to the coast. Several senior police officials also reached the spot but later it came to fore that it belonged to a local man.

The owner of the boat informed the police that it must have been carried away by the sea current as its weak anchor rope broke down.

The extra vigilant security staff took a sigh of relief after verifying the facts.
