‘Systems’ still active over Gujarat but no fresh heavy rainfall warning

Ahmedabad:

Even as the vigorous monsoon had created flood like situation in Valsad district of South Gujarat and caused spells of moderate to heavy downpours at other places in the last three days, the met department has despite presence of two upper air cyclonic circulation systems and an offshore trough at mean sea level over the state has not issued any fresh heavy rainfall warning for tomorrow.

Meanwhile due to the surge in water level of Auranga river in Valsad district and water logging in several areas, the NDRF team made a survey of the area.

The met bulletin today said, ‘MORNING’S UPPER AIR CYCLONIC CIRCULATION OVER GUJARAT REGION AND ADJOINING SOUTH WEST MADHYAPRADESH BETWEEN 2.1 AND 4.5KM ABOVE MEAN SEA LEVEL PERSISTS. MORNING’S UPPER CYCLONIC CIRCULATION OVER KUTCH AND ADJOINING SOUTH PAKISTAN AT 1.5KM ABOVE MEAN SEA LEVEL PERSISTS. MORNING’S OFFSHORE TROUGH AT MEAN SEA LEVEL EXTENDING FROM SOUTH GUJARAT COAST TO KERALA COAST PERSISTS.’

The spell of light to moderate rainfall in the coming days would continue. The rain has further brought down the temperatures across the state. However owing to high humidity the occasional feeling of humid hotness also persisted at several places.
