ACB Gujarat registers offense involving highest disproportionate asset in its history

Gandhinagar: Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) Gujarat has registered offense over Rs. 10.54 crore disproportionate asset against then assistant director of Gujarat Land Development Corporation Ltd (GLDC) Pravinchandra Premal, his son Chirag and wife Damyanti.

Pravin Premal worked in GLDC during 2008-2018.

Pravin involved his family in his corrupt practice when he was on GLDC duty in Dharampur in South Gujarat. As per the rules, gang leaders for the works such as farm side ponds, village side ponds and water storage tanks are appointed by field assistants and field supervisors, however Pravin Premal himself managed to appoint his son Chirag as gang leader and showed completion of several projects just on papers, following which bills were generated. Total sum of Rs. 3.92 crore was deposited in bank accounts through RTGS for Dharampur area works. The fund was later transferred in Pravin and wife Damyanti’s accounts. Properties were bought from this sum.

Total 26 complaints are filed in Navsari and Valsad Anti Corruption Bureau offices regarding scam in non-existent farm side ponds that are just on paper. Pravin managed to cheat the government for a sum as big as Rs. 2.61 crore, the investigators have found.

ACB investigation has revealed that in last ten years, Rs. 4.26 crore was deposited in bank accounts of Pravin and his family. Rs. 45.75 lakh was deposited after demonetization. Pravin purchased BMW car, flat, agriculture land, shop – in total Rs. 10.54 crore worth of property in the name of family members and relatives. ACB has unearthed the details of 32 different properties that Pravin created during his duty in GLDC.
