AMC demolishes SBR Social on Sindhu Bhavan road

Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today in a major demolition drive demolished SBR Social, a hangout place that has emerged at Sindhu Bhavan road in recent years. According to AMC, 14,000 square ft shade type illegal round plus first floor construction in addition to 30,000 square ft space with food stalls attracted demolition. The action is linked to illegal status of land. An agriculture land was purchased without prior permission in breach of Ganotdhara section 63 in the name of Shri Saraswati Smruti Khedi Sahkari Mandal. Later in attempt to conceal an irregularity A cooperative society was transformed into Shri Saraswati Smruti Cooperative Housing Society Ltd owned by Raman Patel of Popular Builders. Mamlatdar of Ghatlodia SJ Rabari had ordered government take-over of this land.
