Delkar suicide case: Mumbai Police book UT administrator Praful Patel

Mumbai: Mumbai Police has registered a case against central government appointed Administrator of Union Territory (Dadra-Nagar Haveli and Daman-Diu) and former minister of state for Home in Gujarat, Praful Khoda Patel under the Atrocities Act and the charge of abetment to suicide in connection with Mohan Delkar’s suicide. The FIR was registered on Tuesday after Delkar’s family members visited the Marine Drive police station and lodged a complaint.DNH collector Sandip Singh, Dy Collector Apurv Sharma, DySP Manasvi Jain, former SP Sharad Bhaskar, Talati Dilip Patel and others are also booked as per FIR.
Delkar (58), a seven-term MP from Dadra and Nagar Haveli Union Territory, was found dead in a hotel in Marine Drive area of south Mumbai on February 22. On Tuesday, the Maharashtra government said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) shall be set up to probe Delkar’s death.
The police had recovered a 15-page suicide note from independent Lok Sabha MP Delkar’s hotel room which was written on his letter head, the official said, adding the note mentioned some names.
