AMC to propose change in Marriage certificate format to add photos of couple

Amdavad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is planning to request the state government to modify the format of their marriage certificates to include photographs of the newly married couple. This proposal is intended to alleviate the challenges faced by women who need to change their names on their Aadhaar cards following their marriage.

During a recent meeting of the AMC’s standing committee, the issue of difficulties faced by married women in altering their names on their Aadhaar cards was raised. Sources reported that women are requested to provide a marriage certificate with photographs when they want to substitute their father’s name on the card with their husband’s name. Unfortunately, the current certificate format issued by the AMC does not include any photographs. As a solution, the standing committee has agreed to approach the state government and request a revised marriage certificate format that includes photographs. DeshGujarat
