Surat: The Sessions Court rejected the bail plea of Mitul Trivedi, who was arrested for his fake claims of being an ISRO scientist who designed Chandrayaan 3. The court ruled that his crime was not limited to fraud but also misused the sentiments of the public.
Mitul Trivedi (who lives in Swati Raw House, Pal Road) from Surat made fake claims of being an ISRO scientist who designed Chandrayaan 3. He also produced fake documents claiming to be a research member of the Mercury Force in Space and an assistant chairman of the Ancient Science Application Department at ISRO in February 2020. The crime branch booked him under various sections.
Mitul Trivedi had made a bail plea in the district court. The district court rejected his bail plea. He then made a bail plea in the sessions court through his advocate. His advocate argued that he did not intend to cheat anyone. He also did not intend to get any personal benefits or harm anyone. He was only willing to gain popularity to get more students in his tuition classes. The accused doesn’t have a criminal history, he further argued.
On the other hand, public prosecutor Nayal Sukhadwala argued that the accused made a fake claim of being an ISRO scientist. He also gave a fake interview about being the chairman in the Ancient Science Application Department at ISRO. The court, considering the arguments from both parties, ruled that the accused Mitul Trivedi’s crime was not only limited to fraud but he also misused public sentiments. He not only produced fake documents but also committed a breach of trust with a number of people through his interview. DeshGujarat
