Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has taken serious note of all preliminary details regarding the Palanpur railway overbridge incident and has instructed to blacklist GPC Infrastructure Limited, which was the contractor firm for the construction of this Railway Over Bridge.

The Chief Minister has also ordered the debarring of Macway Management Ltd, the consultant for this construction project.

The Chief Minister has also instructed to put the Assistant Engineer and Deputy Superintendent Engineer under suspension immediately.

A three-member committee was formed as per the instruction of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel after girders of an under-construction railway overbridge fell in Palanpur, killing two people.

The committee members reached the spot on the same day. In addition to them, the Chief Engineer of Quality Control and Additional Secretary of the R&B department also visited the place.

Samples of concrete and steel, design, maps, etc were collected from the spot and sent for testing. After the results of the tests, the committee will be able to arrive at a detailed conclusion.

The preliminary report of the mishap has found that the unfortunate incident could have been avoided if barricading and traffic management etc. had been taken care of in the under-construction area.
