Mandatory pet dog registration to begin in Ahmedabad from Jan 1
December 31, 2024
Ahmedabad: Starting tomorrow, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will begin registering pet dogs in the city. Dog owners will be required to complete online registration via the AMC’s official website within 90 days, with a registration fee of Rs 200 per dog.
The AMC’s online registration system will collect key details such as the owner’s name, email ID, mobile number, address, photograph, and identification documents (Aadhar card, electricity bill, property tax bill, PAN, or rental agreement for tenants). Information about the dog, including its name, breed, gender, age, photos of the living area, and the total number of dogs owned, will also be required.
In the first phase, the civic body will focus solely on registration, without requiring ownership documents or vaccination records. License issuance and chip implantation will be introduced in the second phase to prevent delays from simultaneous processing.
Ahmedabad is estimated to have a pet dog population of around 50,000. After initial registration, pet owners will be required to submit annual vaccination certificates. A mobile app, expected to launch within a month, will streamline this process. DeshGujarat
