Gujarat Congress General Secretary Arrested Over his Facebook Posts on Operation Sindoor

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Police’s CID Cyber Crime Police here has arrested Gujarat Congress General Secretary Rajesh Soni over a couple of social media posts on Facebook regarding Operation Sindoor and the Indian Armed Forces.

The First Information Report (FIR) in this case mentions two specific social media posts by Soni for which he has been arrested.

In one post, he wrote that “it must be noted that the soldiers will not get credit. Double the expense compared to flying Rafale jets in Operation Sindoor will be spent on their photographs and propaganda.”

Soni had also posted a related video and image along with this post.

In another post dated 3rd April 2024, Rajesh Soni shared an image suggesting that “22-year-old Agniveer youths are retired and sent back home, while a 73-year-old man is seeking one more chance for himself.”

The police FIR mentions five posts from Rajesh Soni’s Facebook handle and includes their respective URLs.

The FIR states that although Soni was aware that the Government of India had not surrendered and that the details were false, he still posted content that could create hatred against the country. He is accused of spreading rumors and posting material that could harm India’s international image and demoralize the Indian armed forces.

Rajesh Soni has been booked under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita 2023, Sections 152 and 353(1)(a). A relatively lesser-known face in Gujarat Congress, Soni has come into the limelight following his late-night detention and arrest.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Congress Chief Shaktisinh Gohil has protested the arrest in a tweet. DeshGujarat
