November 14, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is making significant progress on two major railway overbridges (ROBs) and one flyover in the city, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity across key areas. All three projects are expected to be completed in 2026, benefiting approximately 1.5 lakh commuters at each location.
1. Makarba–Corporate Road / SG Highway ROB (LC 24B)
Construction of a four-lane railway overbridge on the 40-meter road connecting Torrent Power Makarba to Corporate Road / SG Highway at Ahmedabad Botad Railway Line Level Crossing No. 24 is currently underway. The bridge spans approximately 636.89 meters in length and 16.40 meters in width. With an estimated project cost of ₹80.63 crore, work on the approach superstructure has been completed, while foundation, substructure, and pier cap work on the railway span is 65% complete. The bridge is expected to be ready by March 2026.
Once completed, the LC 24B gate will be removed, significantly improving connectivity from Makarba toward Corporate Road and SG Highway. The project will directly benefit about 1.5 lakh residents and commuters in Makarba, Sarkhej Ward, Corporate Road, and surrounding areas.
2. Thaltej–Hebatpur Sola Science City ROB (LC 11B)
Work is progressing on the four-lane railway overbridge connecting Thaltej to the Hebatpur Sola Science City area at Level Crossing No. 11B on the Ahmedabad–Viramgam Broad Gauge Railway Line. The bridge is approximately 679 meters long and 16.50 meters wide, with an estimated cost of ₹74.15 crore.
The approach superstructure has been completed, while foundation, substructure, and pier cap work on the railway span is 73% complete. The bridge is expected to be completed by June 2026. Upon completion, LC 11B will be eliminated, enhancing connectivity across Thaltej, Hebatpur, and Science City areas and benefiting around 1.5 lakh commuters.
3. Sattadhar Junction Flyover
In the northwestern zone of Ahmedabad, a four-lane flyover is under construction at Sattadhar Junction. The bridge stretches about 975 meters with a width of 16.50 meters and an estimated project cost of ₹103.63 crore. The foundation, substructure, and side superstructure work have been completed, while work on the deck slab and remaining superstructure near Chanakyapuri is ongoing, with 85% physical progress achieved.
The Sattadhar flyover is expected to be completed by February 2026. Once operational, it will ease traffic congestion at Sattadhar Junction and improve connectivity for areas including Ghatlodia, Sola, Thaltej, and Chanakyapuri, benefiting approximately 1.5 lakh commuters.
With these three bridges, Ahmedabad is set to witness improved traffic flow, reduced congestion at critical level crossings, and enhanced commuter convenience across multiple city zones. DeshGujarat
