Ahmedabad: In a major anti-encroachment drive across the Eastern Zone, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) cleared numerous illegal constructions and opened roads for public use.
In T.P. Scheme No. 25 (Khokhra-Mehmedabad) of Bhaipura Hatkeshwar Ward, about 120 residential and five commercial structures along the road passing through Radhakrishna Park Society near Ishwar Krupa Society were demolished. The operation was carried out by staff from the Estate and Urban Development Department, Khokhra Police, private laborers, and machinery, including a JCB breaker. Similarly, in T.P. Scheme No. 10 (Rakhial) of Amraiwadi Ward, six commercial shops encroaching on the road near Metro Pillar No. 26 were removed by the AMC team with the help of anti-encroachment vans and laborers.
Furthermore, acting on a report by the Gujarat State Legal Services Authority (GSLSA) for the East Zone, removal of encroachments and vehicle locking actions were carried out across various locations, including Hatkeshwar Circle Road, Hastinapur Society, Rabari Colony crossroads to Swastik crossroads up to the Metro Station (East Zone side), from Bhavaninagar to Jogni Mata Temple, near Fuwara Circle, and on the T.P. road and footpath near Soni ni Chali and the BRTS corridors.

Additionally, 32 vehicles were locked across Vastral, Ramol-Hathijan, Nikol, Odhav, Gomtipur, Amraiwadi, Viratnagar, and Bhaipura wards, with administrative charges totaling Rs. 15,400 collected.
