AMTS invites bids for 2nd Multi-Modal Transport Hub in Ahmedabad
November 20, 2025
Ahmedabad: In a bid to tackle the growing population and traffic congestion, the Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) has initiated the development of two key multi-transport hubs (MMTH) in the city, focusing on the eastern and western zones.
As reported earlier by DeshGujarat, an eighteen-storey multi-modal hub will come up at a cost of Rs. 250 crore at Akhbarnagar on the western side of Ahmedabad. Now, AMTS, the transport arm of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), has issued a tender for a similar project on the eastern side of the city.
Hanspura Transport Hub: Rs. 233 crore PPP project
The eastern hub is planned at Hanspura, near Naroda-Dehgam Road, to address rapid development and congestion in East Ahmedabad. The project, estimated at Rs. 233 crore, will be developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model on a plot spanning 19,133 square meters.
The MMTH facility will have an AMTS bus parking area covering 3,554 square meters, with the capacity to accommodate at least 100 city buses, with Rs. 46.31 crore allocated for this segment. In addition, commercial development is planned over 9,020 square meters, with an investment of Rs. 187.35 crore. After the bidding process, the work is expected to begin, and the section titled as mandatory area (including the bus parking facility) is to be completed in 1.5 years. The hub will operate under a ten-year operation and maintenance contract.
Notably, the upcoming MMTH will be located around 11 km from Kalupur Railway Station and approximately 10 km from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, making it strategically accessible for commuters.
Authorities anticipate a significant reduction in traffic congestion in East Ahmedabad once the hub becomes operational. DeshGujarat
