Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today announced that it has completed the development of a new Sports Activity Centre (SAC) under the Ranip Railway Bridge. The centre will be inaugurated on Friday, 5 December 2025.

The facility has been developed to encourage the city’s youth, children, and fitness enthusiasts to engage in recreational sports, adopt healthier lifestyles, and pursue competitive sporting activities. For its operation and maintenance, AMC initiated a tender process under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. Two bidders participated, of which one was disqualified.

The qualified bidder will be awarded the operation and maintenance contract for five years, extendable by an additional three years after review. The annual contract value is ₹2,11,111 plus 18% GST, with a 5% annual increment payable by the PPP operator.

Sports facilities offered:

The SAC includes multiple indoor and recreational sports options such as air hockey, table tennis, chess, carrom, foosball, box cricket, pickleball, basketball, a pool table, and more, offering citizens a diverse and modern sporting environment.

The box cricket zone can accommodate 12 players per session and is available at ₹700 per hour. A pickleball court is also available for four players at ₹500 per hour. A separate play area for children features a multi-play station, crawling tunnel, and Mary Gold platform. Additional amenities such as a dedicated yoga space and multiple food stalls further enhance the experience.

AMC officials stated that the project will significantly improve access to quality fitness and sports facilities in the city, further promoting a culture of health, recreation, and competitive sports.
