Surat: The Gujarat government has inked 2,792 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth ₹3,53,306 crore during the two-day Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for South Gujarat, with the proposed projects expected to generate around 2.82 lakh direct jobs in the coming years.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi shared the figures while addressing the valedictory session in Surat, highlighting what he described as a strong investment response in the region.
“In just two days, 2,792 MoUs have been signed, with investment commitments exceeding ₹3.53 lakh crore in South Gujarat,” he said, adding that the projects are likely to be implemented over the next three years.
According to Sanghavi, these investments are expected to create direct employment opportunities for nearly 2.82 lakh people across the region.
The Surat event follows similar regional conferences held earlier in Mehsana for North Gujarat and in Rajkot for Saurashtra and Kutch. The government has expanded the Vibrant Gujarat initiative beyond Gandhinagar to ensure wider participation across regions.
“Entrepreneurs from South Gujarat have engaged with delegates from over 20 countries, including Rwanda, the US, Canada, Singapore, and Japan,” he said, noting that several business discussions initiated during the event are expected to progress further.
Emphasising inclusivity, Sanghavi said the initiative aims to benefit those who traditionally lack access to such platforms. “Our focus is not limited to established players but extends to every businessman, including those sitting in the last row,” he said.
Highlighting sectoral priorities, Sanghavi said the government is promoting non-polluting industries in tribal districts such as Dang, Tapi, and parts of Navsari, Valsad, Bharuch, and Surat, with a focus on employment generation, particularly for women.
“The garment sector remains a key focus. Over the next two years, we aim to generate direct employment for more than 25,000 women in tribal areas through partnerships with major industry players,” he said.
Sanghavi reiterated that the government remains committed to translating investment commitments into tangible growth and employment on the ground. DeshGujarat
