Gujarat Govt Empowers District Collectors to Arrange Cattle Fodder in Low-Rainfall Areas
July 15, 2026
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has empowered district collectors to make immediate arrangements for cattle fodder in areas receiving deficient rainfall, a move aimed at ensuring the timely protection of livestock during the ongoing monsoon season.
Announcing the decision earlier today, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said district collectors have been given direct authority to arrange fodder in regions facing inadequate rainfall so that assistance reaches affected livestock without administrative delays.
He said the move is intended to ensure that cattle housed in gaushalas and cattle shelters receive fodder on time, preventing shortages caused by lengthy approval procedures.
According to Sanghavi, the government observed that the existing administrative approval process often consumed valuable time during emergency situations. Delegating powers directly to district collectors will enable faster decision-making based on the ground situation and the specific needs of each district.
The state government said the decision will help ensure timely fodder availability and strengthen livestock protection measures in drought-prone or low-rainfall areas. DeshGujarat
