Rajkot Civic Body Seals Aadaro Restaurant, Jalaram Lassi; Issues Notices to 9 Eateries

Rajkot: The Food Department of the Health Branch of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has intensified its drive against food safety violations, inspecting 87 restaurants, eateries, and food establishments over the past three days. During the inspection campaign, officials destroyed 59 kg of stale and inedible food, seized 96 kg of food waste, collected 10 food samples for laboratory analysis, and sealed two food establishments for serious violations.
According to the civic body, notices were issued to nine establishments over issues related to food storage, hygiene, and licensing, while a total fine of Rs. 20,000 was imposed during the drive.
One of the sealed establishments was Aadaro Restaurant & Catering at Gangeshwar Chowk on Rail Nagar Main Road. During the inspection, officials found expired potato masala, gravy, boiled vegetables, bread, pizza, pav, and other food items. Around 19 kg of inedible food was destroyed at the premises. The restaurant was fined Rs. 3,000 and served a notice for poor hygiene and licensing violations.
The second establishment, Jai Jalaram Cream Lassi & Vadapau, located near Silver Square on Karnavati Road in Amrit Society-2, was also sealed. Officials destroyed around 22 kg of inedible food, including syrup, ghughra, chutney, and stale ingredients used for preparing lassi. The outlet was also fined Rs. 3,000 and issued a notice over hygiene and licensing-related deficiencies.
As part of the inspection drive, the Food Department also collected samples of milk, cheese, and cake from nine locations for laboratory testing. Milk samples were collected from Sukhsagar Dairy Farm (Nana Mawa Road), Shrikrishna Dairy Farm, Shreeji Dairy Farm (Vishwanagar), Shivam Dairy Farm (Hasanwadi-4), Tirupati Dairy Farm, Bajrang Dairy Farm (near Jayarajnagar-1), Ramkripa Dairy Farm (Kalavad Road), and Vrindavan Dairy Farm (Satyasai Road). A butterscotch cake sample was also collected from Delicious Foods on the 150 Feet Ring Road for analysis.
The RMC said the inspection drive will continue to ensure food safety standards are maintained and to take strict action against establishments found violating food safety and hygiene norms. DeshGujarat
