A mob consisting over 100 to 150 protesters from Youth Congress and Maninagar Nagarik Samiti protesting Kankaria lake’s proposed entry ticket scheme today tried to vandalize Kankaria mini train imported from UK and parked at the Kankaria lake front.

A group of protesters today gathered outside the Pushpkunj gate of Kankaria lakefront and tried to climb the gate to target mini train which was parked nearby.

Security men deployed at the lake front promptly came in action and stopped the protesters at Pushpakunj gate site applying necessary force. However the mob was successful in vandalizing some public properties including a ladder. Some of the people in this group jumped over a mini train. Protesters also lied down over a track.

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has filed a complaint against a group of 100 to 150 rioting people in Maninagar Police station.

It should be noted that a group of Congress workers had protested Kankaria Lake front’s proposed entry ticket system before couple of days with play cards in their hands. However this time the protest was bit murky.

Meanwhile Kankaria lakefront inauguration with the grand Kankaria Carnival is scheduled at December 25th. To facilitate speedy last phase works, Kankaria will remain open only from 5.00 am to 8.30 am during December 19th to 24th. Kankaria lake, Zoo, Balvatica etc places will remain close from 8.30 am on these days.
