Gujarat has opportunity to give two prime ministers in row:Shourie
Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 24 April, 2009
BJP leader and India’s one of the most celebrated journalists Arun Shourie on Friday said Gujarat has major opportunity to give two prime ministers in row to this country.
Speaking with media persons in Ahmedabad, Arun Shourie said “Gujarat has three major opportunities this time:(1) To elect India’s prime minister from Gujarat, (2) To create a situation where the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister both are from same party, which would end discrimination that Gujarat faces from centre and (3) To elect Prime Minister of India from Gujarat, not only in this Lok Sabha election, but according to mu opinion, also in next election consequently. This one and the next one. Narendrabhai.”
When asked whether he was hinting Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi would be a Prime Ministerial candidate in next Lok Sabha election in 2014, Arun Shourie replied, “Oh it’s too far. It’s not going to be, it is an opportunity for Gujarat to ensure that this Prime Minister is from Gujarat and next Prime Minister is from Gujarat. It is my view. Only my view.”
Earlier Shourie said, “Gujarat has shown, what are the possibilities of development. It is a model state for whole nation. Sonia Gandhi promises rural broad band but that has been already done in Gujarat. Some promises UPA has mentioned in it’s agenda for next five years are already achieved in Gujarat.”
