Bhavnagar, 9 August 2012
Leader of opposition Shaktisinh Gohil today alleged that though the government has stock of fodder, it has not started its distribution in Bhavnagar where severe fodder shortage is being experienced at present.
Gohil said the dams in south Gujarat have more water compare to last year, Narmada dam is overflowing and Ukas has excellent amount of water. In view of this, the state government should declare incentives for cultivation of fodder in south Gujarat. In past Congress governments had declared such incentive for more availibility of fodder.
Gohil said, the Chief Minister is coming to Bhavnagar this Saturday. In past during the visits of Chief Minister, representatives of all parties were invited to represent the issues pertaining to local people. While the Chief Minister is coming to Bhavnagar he should give time to peoples’ representatives and common people so that they can represent their problems. Meetings with only officers will not serve any purpose. When people are facing the problem of water scarcity, the Chief Minister should rise above politics.
While Narmada dam is overflowing, and water is flowing to sea, Bhavnagar’s Maleshti and many other water bodies should get Narmada water. The state goverment should immidiately make a plan to supply Narmada water to various water bodies of Bhavnagar.
Gohil said while sowing of seeds has failed twice, the government should now give loan to farmers for purchase of new seeds. The Congress government had done so in past.
He said the government of India has contributed Rs 2000 crore to calamity relief fund of Gujarat. Recently 800 crore rupees are added to it. Thus the fund is sufficienty, but still the state government has not started any kind of relief work.
He said in Rajasthan, cattle camps have started and fodder distribution is going on. The state government should immidiately start cattle camps in Bhavnagar district and should provide per-cattle subsidy to panjrapols in the district
