Union Cabinet minister for Mines, Shri Dinsha Patel today called on Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi in Gandhinagar. After meeting Shri Modi, Shri Patel moved on to Delhi.
Shri Dinsha Patel’s meeting with Modi sparked off speculations on new political equation in state.
However, sources told DeshGujarat that Dinsha met Narendra Modi over BJP-led Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC)’s decision to revoke its no-objection certificate to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial Society for construction at the 391-year old Moti Shahi palace built by Shah Jahan. Due to AMC’s this move, construction work for Sardar Patel Memorial has stopped. The Sardar Patel Memorial Society is headed by Dinsha Patel. The society is accused of making additions to the palace and renovating it, in a fashion that damages its heritage value. Following fresh decision by AMC, the society will need to seek permission from the state archaeology department and roads and building department and then will need to come to AMC for NOC.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has sanctioned a Rs 17 crore grant for the upkeep of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial in Shahibaugh. Dinsha was instrumental in bringing such a big grant for memorial.
