15 IPS,Bomb Squad units,ATS team of Gujarat Police in Bihar ahead of Modi’s visit

Ahmedabad, 31 October 2013

Unfazed by October 27 serial blasts, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi is visiting Bihar again within a week. His security is major concern for entire nation. Union government has denied SPG cover to Modi who is the Prime ministerial candidate of one of India’s two largest political parties.

Modi will be in Bihar again on 1st/2nd November to meet relatives of those killed in the serial bomb blasts on Hunkaar rally day on October 27. Modi will arrive at Patna airport on Friday night and will take a chopper to visit seven different places in different districts the next day(2nd November) to meet the relatives of slain persons.

Gujarat Police wants to take no chance. A team of 7 DIG, 7 SP led by IG Atul Karwal who has been incharge of Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s security in past is visiting Bihar ahead of Shri Modi’s visit to supervise the security arrangements. The team will be in Bihar during Chief Minister’s visit.

The teams are working on advance security liaison, excess control, anti-sabotage check ahead of Shri Modi’s visit.

Two teams of NSG, Chief Minister’s security staff and other cops are also on duty to check safe visit of Chief Minister.

Additionally several teams of Bomb disposal squads are also sent for Shri Modi’s sanitization of venues to be visited by Shri Modi.

As a Chief Minister Shri Modi enjoys the state guest status, but based on the experience of Hunkaar rally, Gujarat Police can’t afford to rely solely on local security arrangements offered by the state govt in Bihar.

ADGP of Anti Terrorist Squad Mr. AK Surolia is already in Bihar with his team to get the details of the blasts, the accused and their network.

Meanwhile plastic used to make bombs used in 27 October serial blasts was manufactured at Rose plastics in Halol in Gujarat. Clocks for timer bombs were purchased by Assam trader from Morbi’s Lotus clocks. The purchaser had bought 200 clocks. Police carried out investigation into this at both places.
