Apollo Tyres to establish Centre of excellence in Gujarat for Guayule natural Rubber

Leading tyres manufacturing company M/s Apollo Tyres Ltd has proposed to set up a Centre of Excellence in Guayule Rubber Agro Industries Project at Dudhva village in Tharad Taluka of the Banaskantha district.

The Gujarat Industries & Mines department’s high level committee for the approval of the Centre of Excellences has reportedly approved the project.

The committee recently in it’s meeting approved the project and noted that , “the project has the socio-economic transformation by the way of technology in the semi-arid area of the state. The committee gone through the proposal and felt that the proposal to set up pilot scale research project of Guayule Rubber cultivation, extraction and commercialization of Natural rubber products used for various industrial purpose and development of value added products in the proposed Centre of Excellence in Agro Industrial Project is a special project in the participation of the leading tyre manufacturing company. In view of long term benefits of the projects in the remote and arid area of the State, the committee decided to grant assistance of Rs.8.4 crore from the total project cost of Rs.12 crore.”

If the project gets expected success than it can change the agro-profile of the region and farming of Guayule Rubber can be the new cash crop for the region.
