Cash, revolver stolen from ACB police station in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: A service revolver of a police inspector and Rs one lakh cash were stolen allegedly by unidentified persons from an Anti Corruption Bureau police station in Lunawada town of Mahisagar district, police said today.
Upon learning about the theft this morning, ACB police inspector Jayendrasinh Vaghela lodged a complaint at Lunawada police station today, said Police Station Officer of Lunawada Narpatsinh.
As per the complaint, the theft took place last night when there was no one at the police station, which runs in a rented house in Ganesh Society in Lunawada town.
“In his complaint, Vaghela alleged that some unidentified thieves entered the police station after breaking the main lock and then stole Rs 1 lakh cash as well as his service revolver worth Rs 85,000 after breaking the safe” said Narpatsinh, adding the stolen cash was recovered during a trap by the ACB some time back.
As per the complaint, the thieves also broke into some of the houses in adjoining societies.
The officer said a case has been registered and investigation is underway.
