Gujarat CM meets bank officials, chalks out plan for POS, micro ATMs at petrol pumps, cooperatives

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today held a meeting with senior officials of banking sector in Gujarat for wider availability of cashless and digital banking services across the state.

According to a statement issued on this meeting by government, the Chief Minister said POS machine will be installed at 1500 of total 3000 petrol pumps within next three days for making payment and withdrawal of money. All 3,000 petrol pumps will be covered within next ten days.

For availing digital banking facility to cooperative societies in rural areas 17,000 POS will be installed. Micro ATMs facility will be created through wi-fi. To inform the rural people about digital banking services available through mobile phone, the government and banks will rope in school-college students and traders associations.

Bank accounts opening, Aadhar seeding, mobile seeing and RUPAY card activation drive is going on presently by banks and state administration. Even when it’s holiday today, 54,642 bank accounts have been opened through 738 camps.

Govt officials Kailashnathan, Sanjay Prasad, Mona Khandhar, Sanjiv Kumar, RBI regional head Das, AMUL CEO Sodhi and senior officials of various banks were present in this meeting.
