Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: NHAI Invites Fresh Bids for Pending Work on Package 9 of Vadodara–Virar Section

New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited fresh bids for the balance construction work on another crucial stretch of the Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway in Gujarat.

The tender has been issued for Package 9 of the eight-lane access-controlled expressway between Karvad and Jujuwa in Valsad district of South Gujarat, covering a stretch of around 26 km (km 128.0 to km 154.6). The estimated project cost is ₹873.62 crore (excluding GST). The work will be executed under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode.

According to the Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by NHAI, the contractor awarded the project will be required to complete the remaining work within 1.5 years. The contract also includes a 10-year maintenance responsibility after completion of the construction work.

It is noteworthy that Package 9 is among three 87-km-long packages of the Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway that have witnessed significant delays over the past few years. Along with Package 8 (Jujuwa–Gandeva) and Package 10 (Talsari–Karvad), the package had earlier been awarded to Pune-based Roadway Solutions India Infra Limited (RSIIL), where progress remained sluggish for a prolonged period.

Earlier this year, NHAI terminated the contract with Roadway Solutions India Infra Limited (RSIIL) for delays in execution of Package 8 and issued a fresh tender in January. Now, the central authority has also terminated the Package 9 contract due to the slow pace of work by the same contractor and issued a fresh tender. The bids are scheduled to be opened on July 15, 2026. DeshGujarat
